On Friday evening, October 14 a motorcyclist was killed in a fatal collision with a state police trooper.
According to the state police, at around 7.45p.m., Trooper Cody J. Vetter was responding to a call involving a person with a knife at a football game at a Millbrook High School and was traveling eastbound on Route 44. He had on his emergency lights and sirens. At the intersection of Route 44 and Sharon Turnpike in the Town of Washington he collided with a motorcycle driven by 45 year old Warren Corbitt of Brooklyn.
Corbitt was pronounced dead at the scene and Vetter was taken to Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie with minor injuries and released.
The crash is under investigation by the state police who are also asking for witnesses.
