On Saturday, April 18 a woman was arrested in Scarsdale for leaving the scene of an accident.
The accident happened just before 10 a.m. at the intersection of Boulevard and Post Road. A 1999 Saab travelling on Post Road hit a 2009 Honda, being driven by a 94 year old Scarsdale man, who was turning left from Boulevard. The driver of the Saab stopped briefly, got out of the car while on a cell phone, and then drove away. She was seen to be headed south on Post Road toward Eastchester.
The driver of the Honda suffered facial lacerations and was taken to White Plains Hospital Center.
Scarsdale police told Eastchester police about the incident and around half an hour later they found the Saab at a Mobil gas station on White Plains Road. Surveillance video at the gas station showed the Saab entering the gas station lot the wrong way and the driver then fleeing on foot. A witness to the accident confirmed that it was the same woman who had fled the scene earlier.
The car was then towed to a police impound lot and police contacted the driver who was 37 year old Jenny Alves from Mount Vernon. Alves surrendered to police later that day along with her lawyer.
She was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, unlicensed driving and third degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
